Oh HELL!!! 🤯 Boys and girls, sunspot group 4274 with its crazy Beta-Gamma-Delta magnetic configuration (which sounds like some secret faction from Game of Thrones, let's be honest 🤣) just unleashed the first X-class flare since June of this year!
This is a bigger explosion than when your beer bursts in the freezer! ❄️🍺 This long-duration event peaked at X1.8 (R3-strong) at 17:34 UTC. Damn, that's like when your teacher gives you an F at school, but one of those proper, red ones! ⚡️
The flare looks impressive on the SolarDemon animation, like a sunrise after an all-nighter at Šírava 🌅, but it doesn't seem to be very wide. We have to keep in mind that this region isn't fully in an Earth-facing position yet 🌍, so any ejection of matter could miss our planet. But don't worry, we're keeping an eye 👁️ on the coronagraph imagery and we'll let you know if it has an Earth-directed component.
In the coming days this region will rotate into a more Earth-facing position, which means any strong solar flares that produce a coronal mass ejection will have a higher probability of hitting our planet. 🚨
